The council admitted that it had no clear idea of how many homes will be built on the site of the Ferrier Estate, in response to a question from Cllr Ian Gerrard (Middle Park & Sutcliffe). 4,400 new homes is felt to be the "optimum number", but contractors have been allowed to submit "variant bids", which could mean many more homes in Kidbrooke.
Cllr Gerrard commented that "the Kidbrooke Vision should provide a sustainable number of decent homes. It should not be a blank cheque for contractors' profits. Local residents have been led to believe that the figure of 4,400 new homes was the maximum; now its only the optimum. Why has this changed? Is this a case of bad faith from the council?"
