Cllr Mark Pattenden with some of the residents' letters objecting to the licensing application
Cllr Mark Pattenden (Eltham South) has welcomed the decision of the licensing committee to reject the application for a 24-hour alcohol licence for the Esso petrol station on Eltham High Street.
"Many local residents contacted me to object to this application," said Cllr Pattenden. "Their concerns were based around the anti-social behaviour and under-age drinking in the local area."
Cllr Pattenden continued "I have spoken with the police to get them to take action but making alcohol available around the clock was not going to help."
"I am glad that the licensing committee saw sense."
The decision means that the petrol station must stop selling alcohol at 11pm.
