Labour has lost the trust of local people in Greenwich say the Liberal Democrats.
"Many local residents have told us how let down they feel by Tony Blair's 'New' Labour government and by the Labour-run Council locally," says local Lib Dem Council Group Leader Cllr Brian Woodcraft (Middle Park & Sutcliffe).
They point to Labour's record on public services in the local area and the poor performance of the council. Labour's failures include:
Local Lib Dem candidate Cllr Ian Gerrard (Middle Park & Sutcliffe) says, "Labour has ignored local residents on so many issues and taken them for granted. It is no wonder that so many people are turning to the Liberal Democrats in these local elections."
Fellow Lib Dem Cllr Mark Pattenden (Eltham South) added, "Local people know that it is only the Liberal Democrats locally who will challenge Labour and hold them to account over their failings - yet they are not ready to trust the Tories. It's the Liberal Democrats who can bring real change to Greenwich borough."
