Fly tipping warning as council makes residents pay to collect rubbish

Cllr Brian Woodcraft has warned that there is a danger that fly tipping could increase now that Labour-run Greenwich Council has decided to charge people for bulk rubbish collection.

Cllr Woodcraft, leader of the Liberal Democrat group on Greenwich Council, said that the charges, which were introduced this year in order to fill a whole a Labour's budget, will only create further environmental problems.

He said: "Charging for bulky waste collections is wrong; there is a strong risk that rather than pay, people will just decide to dump it."
