One Hour Bus Ticket - Making bus travel easier and cheaper

Greenwich Borough Liberal Democrats have welcomed Caroline Pidgeon's campaign to make Londonwide bus travel easier and cheaper by introducing one hour bus tickets.

Caroline Pidgeon, Liberal Democrat London Assembly Transport Spokesperson, is campaigning for a new ticketing system which would allow passengers to change buses within an hour and only pay for one ticket. Similar systems already operate successfully in Paris, Rome and Brussels.

Caroline commented "One hour bus tickets would also make bus travel very attractive to a lot of people who often don't use the bus at present. One hour tickets could even lead to a shift away from people using their cars for short trips and help to reduce congestion across London."

Greenwich Lib Dem Councillor Paul Webbewood said that "This would make a big difference to bus travel in Greenwich, allowing connections all across the borough for the cost of a single journey. On some short journeys you need to change buses, so even with an Oyster Card you're paying £2 or more just to travel a couple of miles. Given how much bus fares have increased recently, the One Hour Bus Ticket would mean a real saving for many people."
